The plot for the construction of the hotel was designated at the site of the demolished, characteristic building known as the "gallery building." This building was located directly adjacent to the Brda River, similar to the neighboring tenements of the Venice of Bydgoszcz. The "gallery building" was often featured on postcards from Bydgoszcz, which indicated the special, likely sentimental, attachment of the residents to this building. Therefore, in the competition project, we tried to refer to the building, which, due to its poor technical condition caused by long-term neglect, had to be demolished. We aimed to utilize the special features of this location in our project. On the basement level, which is a fully functional floor with good lighting on the river side, we placed the gastronomic section, with the possibility of exiting onto a wooden terrace suspended directly above the water's surface. The two upper floors were designated for guest rooms with individual balconies facing the river. The series of neighboring balconies creates a reference to the gallery of the now non-existent building.
